CLOWNING

First of all, allow me to take this opportunity to thank you for taking the next step and looking into what I do and have to offer for your child’s birthday. I can assure you, you have done the right thing and you are not wasting your time.

WHAT I HAVE TO OFFER

Children love to be entertained, as we all know that could be of all ages however, I do specifically perform for ages 1 – 6. Therefore what I can offer for your child’s birthday are the following:

BALLOONS AND MORE

I begin with introducing myself to all the children allowing them the time to get use to my face and feel comfortable with me in the room. I commence the program with singing and dancing and get everybody involved. I have a dress up and story which allows the children to explore with my equipment and feeling confident with themselves by performing in front of a familiar surrounding to them. I play lots of games and a wonderful treasure hunt that is always lots of fun. This adventure leads me into the next fun and loving activity, face painting. Most children enjoy this having done. I specialise in detailed face painting however, if the child would like something simple placed on them, well that’s fine too.

I do my best to combine the singing, creative role-play, story telling, balloon making and face painting and photo sessions all in one package. Let me tell you face painting isn’t easy but I try to get every person made up in about 10 minutes approximately.  It depends on what the child chooses to have done to them and how involved it may be. I can create simple painting or complex. The real look of a tiger, dog, Dracula, clown, butterfly or the little cat face, spots on their faces, suns etc. The face painting time will vary depending on the amount of children. I always like to be part of the cake cutting (optional) and finish up the specified time in making up balloons for the children. I can produce, swords, snails, hats, giraffes, dogs, chains, flowers and birds. I am always watching out for new ideas and more objects or animals to make with the balloons.

Many people often ask how I learnt to make balloons. At the time I felt the best way was to watch someone else put the balloons together. So that is exactly what I did.  I watched another clown once for about an hour putting balloons together.  I knew that if he could do it then I could do it too. Actually, I don’t believe that they are as hard as they seem, but I do believe you have to have the gift to go ahead and construct something with them, hoping they will not bust on you.

Finally all children get free lolly bags and sometimes a stamp on their hand for their support and effort in making the party happen. Most importantly the birthday child receives a personal free birthday gift from me, Nix the Clown. (Not a $2.00 toy)

Before I go into the charges, I just want to let you know that being a female clown and having two children of my own makes my performances unique, compared to a male clown with no children.  I believe I become more sympathetic, involved and in touch with the birthday person and everyone at the party.  I do believe in putting my 100% effort into my work and always looking to satisfy people.  If I can feel that the atmosphere in the room is warm, encouraging and inviting then I know I have succeeded another day’s hard work.  If I can see a child happy with the smile on his or her face, then I also know I have succeeded.  I have not yet come across any sad faces so I must be doing something right.  Finally, I believe that having a clown is for all people no matter what their disability, race or sex. Visually I am stimulating, vocally I am noticeable and on beat and as a person I am a fun to be with.  I can say that with confidence as people tell me this all the time with my red nose on or off.

I have been clowning around all my life but professionally for over two years. I do enjoy my work immensely and mostly enjoy meeting a diversity of people and mixing in with their cultures. On this note “I hope that I get to meet you as you get to meet me”.
